WWT Nikon Photography Competition 2009
![]()
With spring just round the corner, now is a great time to get out and about and capture the beauty of the season on camera. If you enjoy the outdoors and taking photographs, then come along to one of the nine WWT wetland centres and you could win some fantastic prizes in this year’s WWT Nikon photography competition.
Spring is a great time to take photographs – with trees blossoming, birds busy building their nests and plants and animals coming out to play. With all of this activity taking place, there are plenty of reasons to visit one of the centres and, you never know, you could be the next winner.
The competition is open to both WWT members and visitors of all ages. There are three categories: WWT Nikon photo of the year, WWT Nikon junior photo of the year and WWT Nikon digiscoping photo of the year with winners each taking a share of the £5,000 worth of superb Nikon equipment. Winners will also have the chance to see their images published in WWT’s Waterlife magazine.
The judging panel will be chaired by wildlife photographer Chris Packham, alongside representatives of both WWT and Nikon UK. Giving advice to prospective entrants, Chris explains: “The panel will be particularly looking for variety, and imagination within the entries - images that capture a special moment, depict humorous behavior, or tell a story are often more appealing than images we have all seen before.
WWT Chief Executive Martin Spray said: “The quality of the images entered over the last two years has been outstanding, and are a wonderful representation of life at WWT. I’m thoroughly looking forward to seeing what I’m sure will be even better images this year.”
The main rule of the competition is that all submitted photos must have been taken at one of the nine WWT centres in the UK and the brief is to capture any aspect of the WWT experience, from the people to the wildlife to the landscape.
Competition rules and terms and conditions are available at the WWT website.
