New Creative Alliance Tour: Seven Leading Companies Join Forces to Enhance Professional Photographers’ Entire Digital Experience
28 May 2009 – Seven of the industry’s most influential technology suppliers have joined together to bring cutting-edge, digital workflow solutions to professional photographers across Europe. Adobe Systems, Apple, Hewlett Packard, Nikon, Nik Software, Wacom and X-Rite have joined forces for a unique, nine-city Creative Alliance Tour. The tour has been set up to provide creative professionals with a comprehensive insight into a complete digital workflow. A full-day seminar will take place at each city stop, hosted by renowned photo professionals and evangelists - Robin Preston, Boudewijn Krijger and Guy Gowan, among others. Canon Enables Manual Exposure in Video on EOS 5D Mark II
United Kingdom / Republic of Ireland , 27th May 2009: Canon announced today it will release a firmware update for the EOS 5D Mark II allowing users to manually control exposure when shooting video. The new firmware will be available for download from 2 June 2009 on Canon Europe’s support web site.
Following the launch of the EOS 5D Mark II in September 2008, Canon’s Research and Development team has listened closely to customer feedback to develop additions to the camera’s movie recording functionality.

Tech features on the Sony G3 include Face Detection linked to both the autoexposure and autofocus systems, and capable of differentiating between (and prioritizing towards) the faces of children and adults. There's also an Intelligent Scene Recognition function that can identify and automatically switch to the settings for one of eight common scene types - backlight, backlight portrait, twilight, twilight portrait, twilight using a tripod, portrait, landscape or macro. The Sony DSC-G3 can also identify when your subject blinks, warning you when this is the case.
Like the DP1 (which continues in Sigmas's line-up, the DP2's lens has a fixed focal length. However, instead of being wide-angle, it offers a 24.2mm focal length that equates to 41mm in 35mm format. You can't zoom in with this lens - either optically or digitally. The only zooming provided on the DP2 is playback zoom (up to 10x), whereas the DP1 provided buttons for a 3x digital zoom function (which wasn't particularly useful).

Panasonic Launches SDHC Memory Cards with Class 10 Speed Specification
Panasonic is pleased to announce that it will launch new SDHC Memory Cards with Class 10 speed specification in Europe and other markets from the end of May, 2009. Class 10 is a new speed specification standardized by SD Card Association as part of SD Card Specification Ver.3.0 to meet the requirement for higher resolution consecutive shooting and large-sized high definition video shooting.

Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw 5.4 Release Candidate Now Available
Adobe has released its Photoshop Camera Raw 5.4 Release Candidate, available immediately as a free download from Adobe Labs at http://labs.adobe.com. The “release candidate” label indicates that this update is well tested but would benefit from additional community testing before it is distributed automatically to all customers.
The Camera Raw 5.4 Release Candidate extends raw file support to an additional 26 camera and camera back models including the Canon EOS 500D (EOS Rebel T1i), Nikon D5000, and 18 Hasselblad models. The full list of newly supported cameras and camera backs is below.
