For most workaday photographers, the world of auctions, collectors and the art market can seem very far away. But that doesn’t stop just about everyone who picks up a camera from dreaming about it. While few photographers seriously expect their wedding formals or baby portraits to change hands for six-figure sums, many would certainly like to believe that one day, just maybe, they’ll see their landscapes or their street photography hanging in a gallery, reviewed by critics, adored by curators and fought over by collectors.

RAW image files are proprieties of the cameras manufacturer their file extensions are unique to its own and do not exchange well over other programs they consist of ".RAF" for Fuji ".ORF" for Olympus, ".NEF" for Nikon and ".CRW", "CR2" for Canon, just to name a few. Adobe has also developed a RAW image file extension, ".DNG" meaning digital negative in 2004, Abodes DNG was created with the intention of unifying the individual RAW camera file formats.

Always, always, always edit down. This is the mistake I used to make. I’d shoot like a bat outa hell, determined to get at least a handful of great shots from each sitting, then I’d deliver nearly all the images to my client on a disk. Thus the hideoderous image framed on my friend’s wall. The image was poorly lit, poorly composed and just plain YUCK. It’s an image that never should have seen the world beyond my computer. Period.
