
Capturing movement in images is something that many photographers only think to do when they are photographing sports or other fast moving subjects.
While there is an obvious opportunity in sports photography to emphasize the movement of participants - almost every type of photography can benefit from the emphasis of movement in a shot - even when the movement is very small, slow and/or subtle.

The Fujifilm Student Awards 2009 is now open for entries.
Following the success of the 2008 Awards, Fujifilm Professional has again tied-in with Penguin Books to provide an amazing ‘money can’t buy’ first prize.
In addition to being named Fujifilm Student Photographer of the Year 2009 the winner will see their image on the cover of the next edition of Rachel Carson’s revolutionary work Silent Spring. They will also receive £200 worth of Fujifilm Professional film and 25 Penguin Classics titles of their choice.

Autumn is all about color and leaves. Red, orange and yellow suddenly becomes the predominant color of nature instead of the usual green. What you need to know is that red, orange and yellow are advancing colors. This means that if you look at different colored objects at a same distance from you, the objects that are colored red, orange and yellow will appear closer. One the hardest images to make is the dramatic landscape. We have all been there. Great vista, Great sky. Big white clouds, or clouds in a glowering dark mass, or wispy fog…it is often the sky that makes the shot. Who wants an amazing vista with a clear blue sky…nothing to look at in the top half of the image?

The introduction of Nikon’s new D700 may have been one of the worst kept secrets in an industry with more leaks than the Titanic, but it was still something of a surprise coming so hot on the heels of the D3 and D300. Essentially a D3 shrunk down and squeezed into a body roughly the same size as a D300, the D700 is Nikon’s first ‘compact’ professional SLR, and in its segment of the market will compete with the recently announced Canon EOS 5D Mark II and Sony DSLR-A900.

Photoshop may be the industry standard — but that covers a lot of industries. So the program’s interface is pretty general. As it has increased in complexity, many of its efficiencies have been hidden. And it can be very difficult to demonstrate any you’ve discovered to coworkers or friends.
Enter Configurator. Adobe will release this utility on Adobe Labs when Creative Suite 4 ships but we got a prelease version to play with. And we went right to work, building two custom panels to handle two tasks we do every day: resize images and retouch them.
