
The Fujifilm Student Awards 2009 is now open for entries.
Following the success of the 2008 Awards, Fujifilm Professional has again tied-in with Penguin Books to provide an amazing ‘money can’t buy’ first prize.
In addition to being named Fujifilm Student Photographer of the Year 2009 the winner will see their image on the cover of the next edition of Rachel Carson’s revolutionary work Silent Spring. They will also receive £200 worth of Fujifilm Professional film and 25 Penguin Classics titles of their choice.

A major new initiative, in association with The Prince’s Rainforests Project (PRP), was announced on Monday 22 September, at the launch of the second annual Sony World Photography Awards 2009 - a truly global competition which honours both professional and amateur photographers.
Speakers at the launch at the Seippel Gallery in Cologne included Scott Gray, Managing Director of the Sony World Photography Awards, James Kennedy, General Manager of Marketing Communications at Sony Europe, Vanessa Winship, winner of the 2008 I’iris d’or and Briony Mathieson from The Prince’s Rainforest Project. Also speaking were Ruth Eichhorn, Director of Photography, GEO Magazine and photographer and President of Magnum Photos, Stuart Franklin.

I’ve gathered up all the 16 articles, that make up the Microstock Photographer’s Guide, and turned them into one pdf-file. I did this after having looked the list over, and realized how long it would take to sit and read it all here on my blog. Not being a big fan of reading page after page on screen myself, I figured most of you probably feel the same way. Now, it’s easy to print it all out and read it on paper.

Canon Professional Services Will Enhance Benefits for Pro-Level Shooters In New Three-Tiered Membership Program
LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., September 18, 2008 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging, announced today that it will be instituting a new Canon Professional Services (CPS) program beginning in the first quarter of 2009. The new CPS program, which will require all existing members to reapply, will offer three levels of membership – Silver, Gold and Platinum – to qualifying members, with each level receiving better and more extensive service benefits. The new CPS program is designed to provide the appropriate level of service for each professional demographic and support members with faster service, loan equipment, and a range of other benefits to be announced in the coming months.
